Step  1    Greetings and Warming-up

1.T:  Hello, boys and girls! This is the first time to give you an English class,first let’s introduce myself .I’m LuYan ,from NO. 9 Middle School.My hometown is SuzhouI think it’s a rich place,not poor now.There are many villages in it ,such as Xialiuzhai. Liuhezi. …..and so on .

Present the new words: hometown  village  poor

While I was writing on the blackboard,my mobile phone rang.My husband called .     T:Oh ,I am busy,the monitor helps me answer the phone.

While the monitor was answering it, I went on teaching the new words.

2.Then the teacher show them a picture ,(a man WAS ill in bed while he was calling).Imagine he is my husband.

Ask:what did my husband say?  He said that ……..

                            He told you to…….

What else can I do for him?

Discuss with the partners and try to give the teacher some advice.

Give them help if they can’t answer them fluently.Teach the new words and make sure students can understand the meanings.

Step  2   Before You Read

1.    In our daily life,many people need help .Can you tell me what kind of people and what we can do for them?:

Divide the whole class into two groups,who says out more is the winner.

2.    Now disscuss in pairs to think of people who need help and things we can do for them to fill in the form

Step  3.   While  You  Read

1.T:there are many kind people around us ,today I’ll introduce one.She is Yang Lei ,thePekingUniversitygraduate. She worked as a volunteer in a poor mountain village.

Show them a photo and guess who she is .If he /she is right ,give him/her a gift.

2.Read  the passage by themselves ,ask them to read the words in the box before reading.Fill in the words with them while reading.Play the tape for students and check the answers.

3..Read it again .Find out something that you don’t understand and you think important.Invite some students to say something and writing them on the blackboard

4.Read it again and answer the questions on the screen.Ask some students to answer each individually .

5:T.:can you tell Yang Lei’s story? Try to retell it with the given words.

If they can’t ,give them a sample answer.Practice reading it,try to recite it in class.

Step  4.  After  You  Read

1.    Compare the life of you and Yang Lei’ students in groups of four.Show them paper forms. Give them some time to discuss and fill in.

2.    Discuss the similarities and differences with their partners.Give the best group some congraduations..
